Maddie's Jitterbugs
OK, so these are still a little choppy, but Maddie made such cute beetles and mushrooms for this one.

Miniature Lemon Meringue Pie (Fimo or Sculpey)
The secret to beautiful lemon meringue pie is to use transparent yellow clay. Key lime pie can be made with transparent green. I dusted the top with brown chalk using a paintbrush to make it look like toasted marshmallow.

Miniature Apple Pie (Fimo or Sculpey)
The secret to beautiful apple pie is the brown chalk that is brushed on to look like cinnamon (brush it on BEFORE you bake the clay). Sculpey glaze is added AFTER the clay is baked.

Preschool Collage Project
I've been posting lots of Fimo projects recently. I'm thinking of making a separate blog for clay projects. I'm finally catching up on some of the other projects.
For this project I read Fish Wish by Bob Barner. We studied the illustrations and talked about how they were created with colorful papers and beads. Then I gave the students a half a piece of poster board, bright paper, tiny shells, and beads. I told them to make an underwater scene. I love using collage with preschool! The process is so full of imagination. That's the important part: the process, not the product. Kids learn so much this way and have tons of fun with all the beautiful colors and shapes.
